Addison Bellm, a former soccer player at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., filed a tort claim notice against the school and requested a Title IX investigation. Bellm claims she faced discrimination and retaliation by the former women’s soccer coach and that leadership created a hostile environment for women.

According to KLCC, Bellm became a Lane Community College student-athlete in the fall of 2024.

She described several negative interactions with the LCC coach, including when he “berated her to the point of tears after she said she was confused about instructions he had given,” he requested all student-athletes' cell phone locations and requested student-athletes to submit their menstrual cycle tracking information.

Bellm also recalled being required to “sign a contract promising she would show humility and ‘be an energy giver, not an energy killer.’”

Finally, Bellm was kicked off the LCC team in September 2025 after she had a confrontation with the coach that ended with her telling him she would report him to the athletic director.

“It's been really hard for me to find the motivation to practice,” Bellm said. “When I think of soccer, I think of my poor experience there.”

After receiving the tort notice, Lane Community College released a statement saying, “Lane Community College is committed to ensuring safe, healthy and welcoming environments for all of our students and staff. Ensuring that our students have avenues to raise concerns is critical to this value and Title IX protections are an essential component which is why LCC has a robust Title IX procedure, student code of conduct, and human resource policies in place.”

The senior advisor for strategic communications for LCC, Jenna McCulley, also reported that a Title IX investigation is being conducted, but Bellm’s allegations do not “meet the criteria to move forward with a formal grievance procedure.”
