The driver advised officers that his license was inside the front pocket of his backpack, which was located in the front passenger seat of his car. When officers reached inside the backpack for the driver's wallet, they noticed it was resting on a semi-automatic handgun.

According to Memphis athletics officials, the football player was removed from the football program effective immediately

“We are aware of the situation and, due to the ongoing investigation, cannot provide further comment. Effective immediately, [he] has been removed from the football program," the UofM athletic department shared in a statement.
