Nashville Facilities Mostly Spared Tornado Damage

The deadly tornado that ripped through Nashville early Tuesday morning mostly spared the city’s sports venues β€” with the exception of First Horizon Park, the home of the Nashville Sounds Triple-A baseball team.

In a media release, the team announced that the ballpark sustained minor damage, but that no structural damage occurred. No injuries at the facility were reported.

SI.com reports that the damage was mostly to the ballpark’s guitar-shaped scoreboard.

The Nashville Tennessean collected reactions from the city’s sports community. The Nashville Predators NHL franchise served lunch to people affected by the storms at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday.

Vanderbilt University said that campus was spared of damage, but the athletics department was taking steps to check in with student-athletes to ensure their safety.

ABC News reports that the death toll from Tuesday’s storms has reached 24.
