The University of Oregon unveiled plans for a new track and field facility, with a target opening date of 2020. Hayward Field, funded by private donations led by Phil and Penny Knight, the facility will feature a new nine-lane track, a spacious seating area and a classroom and lab space for the Department of Human Physiology and the Bowerman Sports Science Clinic. According to a request for qualifications document, the University of Texas is planning to renovate Royal-Memorial Stadium. The plans call for replacing and updating the existing south end zone, as well as renovating portions of the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center. The estimated $140 million project is expected to begin in the summer of 2019, and finish by 2021. Source: chron.com
Boise State’s iconic blue turf could be replaced as soon as 2019. The current turf at Albertsons Stadium has been in use since 2010, and is nearing the end of its lifespan. Replacing the turf would be about a $1 million project. The team will continue to use the bold blue color. Source: Idaho Press
The University of Texas – El Paso announced updates to the Sun Bowl, the first major renovation to the facility since 1982. The school announced that it would commit $10-15 million to add premium seating, install a new press box, renovate concourses and give the stadium a new façade. The video offers 3D renderings of what the $50 million project will look like after completion.
