The University of Illinois is considering building an ice hockey arena to host a yet-to-be created program for the sport. Athletic director Josh Whitman said that he was “increasingly confident” in a funding model that would support the arena, which would reportedly cost $50 million to $60 million and seat between 5,000 and 6,000 fans.
