The Chicago Bears are suing a company that has allegedly failed to pay for a Soldier Field skybox.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bears organization filed a lawsuit against Monterrey Security Consultants, which owes more than $44,000 in fees, taxes and accrued interest for the executive suite it agreed to license from the team in March of last year.
Monterrey signed on for a $121,299 license, which covered both the 2017 and 2018 seasons. The license fee would increase every subsequent year until it expired in 2023.
Back in February, Monterrey agreed to pay the fee and nearly $15,000 in taxes in two equal installments that were due March 15 and June 15. The company paid $69,625 but has yet to cover the remaining balance
In all, the Bears are seeking $700,000 from Monterrey to cover unpaid fees, taxes and interest for this season and the following five included the in agreement.
Monterrey handles security services at various stadiums and events.
