A new potential downtown ballpark site has emerged, with the Royals now reportedly considering a site next to Union Station where Washington Square Park is currently located. A team of local developers has already begun drawing up renderings of how a stadium in that site would look in relation to the rest of downtown. The team, assembled by 3D Development, has produced unofficial renderings and a site touting the location - welovekcbaseball.com.
There is no indication the Royals are involved with these renderings, but there are certainly some local developers that want this to happen. These are still pretty rudimentary renderings, designed more to show how the stadium would interact with the surrounding development rather than to reveal all the amenities the stadium itself would incorporate. The renderings include the iconic Crown Vision, but not fountains, but those are details that would be worked out once an official rendering is produced. [Royals Review]
It was a big day for many in the state of Wisconsin as high school football teams across the state hit the field for their season opener.
But for one team in northern Wisconsin, it was also the debut of a new field.
The Northwestern Tigers opened their 2024-25 season at home and on one of the newest fields in the state.
“We’re pleased and excited to be playing on a new turf field,” said principal and athletic director Brian Smith. “This stadium was built in 2008, it’s a very nice facility, but the turf was 15-16 years old.” [Northern News Now]
Renovations at the Pocatello Community Recreation Center are nearing completion after a $1.3 million investment from Portneuf Health Trust.
The final touches are being completed at the local community recreation center, which will see the completion of a new 3,200-square-foot weight room along with a variety of other improvements.
“The (weight room) space is beautiful,” Pocatello Parks and Recreation Director Anne Butler said. “We’re currently entering through that back door right now, so patrons really get to see it and enjoy it. Once the rest of the renovation is completed, we’ll go back to our main entrance and you’ll see the old weight room has been renovated into a multipurpose space. The benefit of that now is that a lot of our classes — our dance, yoga, those type of classes — were held in the gym before and so we couldn’t always have someone playing basketball when there were classes.”
