A man who had been working out on a treadmill at a Culver City, Calif., Anytime Fitness location was injured when an SUV crashed through the facility.

Video of the incident was captured by the facility’s security cameras.

Fox 11 of Los Angeles reports that the man, Samuel Kiwasz, was warming up when the car struck the treadmill, knocking both it and Kiwasz into a wall.

“It’s a miracle that I’m alive,” Kiwasz told the TV station. “All of a sudden there was this loud crash and the glass came flying and I got hit … and I got shoved back and I went flying and rolled to the side so I wouldn’t get crushed.”

Kiwasz was pinned between the treadmill and the wall, but according to Fox 11 a door to the back office had given way, providing Kiwasz with slightly more space.

The driver of the car reportedly told police that her brake pedal had failed.
