San Francisco has more fitness and wellness businesses per square mile than any other city in the United States, but Miami came out on top as the healthiest city in the country according to a new study from Mindbody, a wellness technology platform.

To compile its Wellness Index, Mindbody asked more than 20,000 Americans from major US cities about their wellness and pursuit of health. The report also looks at which cities are most dedicated to wellness,  which cities have the most satisfied residents. It even measured success factors for wellness businesses like spas, fitness studios and gyms, salons, and integrative health businesses.

According to the report, Americans’ top obstacles to healthy living include money constraints (43%), time constraints (35%), lack of holding oneself accountable (25%), lack of support (20%), limited access to healthy food (16%).

While San Francisco ranked as the third-healthiest city in the U.S., the City by the Bay has a whopping 16.2 wellness businesses per square mile, and the highest percentage of people who frequent multiple types of these businesses of any top 50 city, according to the report.

San Franciscans love dance fitness in particular, with more than 27 percent of residents attending classes like Pound or Zumba, according to Mindbody's report.

For its part, Miami residents were big into fitness and wellness. Fully 80 percent of respondents from Miami work out at least once a week, while 52 percent opt for group fitness, and 30 percent said they prioritize self-care through salon and spa services. Miami was also the most rested city, with 62 percent of respondents saying they get a full night’s sleep.
