A new locker room at Mississippi State is coming soon as the Bulldogs begin a new era under coach Joe Moorhead.
On Monday, the school announced that construction is underway on a state-of-the-art locker room in Davis Wade Stadium's north end zone for the Bulldogs. The locker room will be 11,100 square feet, and it will include custom-built player lockers, coaches and staff locker rooms, a athletic training room and an equipment room. In the players' locker room, there will be high-gloss metal panel ceiling, color-changing LED linear lighting, internally lit ceiling logos and a state-of-the-art sound system.
Mississippi State also plans to include a new recruiting lounge, which will be more than 3,000 square feet. It will be located next to the locker room. The project comes with a $3.6 million price tag, and it will be finished before the 2018 season.
"Our student-athletes and coaches deserve elite facilities," Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen said in a release. "This project will greatly enhance our team and recruiting operations in Davis Wade Stadium. The expansive locker room is in line with Coach Moorhead's vision of building a championship standard program here at Mississippi State."
In this era, programs are wise to modernize their facilities and locker rooms for recruiting purposes. This is a smart move by Mississippi State to build for the future.
The Bulldogs open the 2018 campaign against Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 1.
