'Crazy' coach suit

A college co-ed from the Upper East Side is suing the College of Holy Cross, saying the Massachusetts school's basketball coach makes ousted Rutgers University coach Mike Rice look like a softy.

Ashley Cooper gave up a full scholarship and transferred out of Holy Cross after veteran coach Bill Gibbons - who brags about his 533-win record over his 28-year tenure - yanked her by her shirt collar, "strongly squeezed" the back of her neck, and then "barked" instructions in her face at close range, the suit alleges.

"Your coach is crazy," the suit says players from other teams would remark.

"Ms. Cooper had brought her concern to the college and we investigated it at that time," said a school spokesperson, adding that the lawsuit is under review by school counsel.
