The Colombia Soccer Federation Head, Ramon Jesurun, was arrested following Sunday’s Copa America Final between Argentina and Colombia. The whole day proved to be chaotic, including un-ticketed fans forcing their way into the stadium, and ended in a devastating loss for Colombia in more ways than one.
After the soccer team was beaten 1-0 by Argentina, Jesurun and his son found themselves in a verbal and physical altercation with stadium security.

The men were reportedly trying to access a portion of the stadium where media had gathered after the match. They encountered stadium staff as they were going toward this area.
WPLG reported that, "Both father and son 'became irate' at a guard and began 'shouting' at him, police said. The arrest report states the altercation became physical after a security guard asked the men, 'yelling in (the guard’s) face,' to step back and placed a palm on the younger Jesurún’s chest to 'guide him back.'”
After this verbal confrontation, Jesurun’s son reportedly grabbed the guard’s neck and punched him. Jerusun himself reportedly pushed the guard. The guard was later hospitalized after these attacks.
Now, both Jerusun and his son are facing three counts of felony battery.
A portion of the altercation can be seen in a video by Fox Sports posted to X. Jerusun and his son’s fight drew in many fans and stadium staff, creating an even larger incident in the concourse. Â
Between the Jerusun’s fight and the un-ticketed fans, stadium security and Miami police made 27 arrests and ejected 55 sports fans from the grounds. In a statement, Stephanie V Daniels, the director of Miami-Dade County said, “I am very proud of our officers’ response to a volatile situation and for their hard work in keeping our community safe.”
The Colombian FA has not commented on Jesurun’s arrest at this time.Â
