A middle school football player in Ohio is recovering after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest during a game last Thursday.
Rome Volunteer Fire Department chief Nick Kuhn told WSAZ that his department was dispatched to Fairland Middle School in Proctorville to a possible cardiac arrest at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
When the crew arrived the player was unresponsive, and witnesses said the player was injured during a play.
Kuhn's crew provided basic first aid until the Lawrence County EMS arrived and transported the child to an undisclosed hospital.
St. Joseph Catholic Schools acknowledged the injury in a Friday statement. It cited health privacy laws and the need to family privacy in disclosing very little information, but said in part, “thanks to God for the emergency medical staff as well as the hospital staff who administered wonderful care.”
