A men's lacrosse player at Marywood University in Dunmore, Pa., is facing criminal charges after he allegedly made threats against the school's men's lacrosse team.
According to WoodWord.com, Jakob Dumas, a freshman at Marywood, is being charged with making terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize, as well as harassment.
Dumas, a member of the lacrosse team, submitted an assault report to Dunmore Police Department following an altercation with his teammates on the night of Feb. 16.
While following up on the the altercation, detectives learned of threats Dumas had made against his teammates prior to the altercation.
“I’ll have 50 r[ou]nd drum w[ith] h[o]llow points that got their name on [th]em in multiple,” Dumas posted on Snapchat.
When Dumas met with detectives on Feb. 24 to go over the events of Feb. 16, they showed Dumas an image of his own Snapchat post, which he admitted he had sent. Detectives asked why Dumas hadn't disclosed the threats he made against his teammates, and Dumas admitted it would have "incriminated" him.
“It was an isolated incident that was immediately addressed by university process and local law enforcement,” said Juneann Greco, special advisor for strategic communications at Marywood University,. “At this time, we are confident that members of the men’s lacrosse team, the Marywood community and members of the greater community are not at risk.”
Citing privacy laws, Greco declined to say whether Dumas was still a Marywood student. His name is not listed on the lacrosse roster.
