The University of Florida provided an update on the construction timeline for its forthcoming football and baseball facility projects. In a press release, Gators AD Scott Stricklin said that rising construction costs would delay the projects by a few months. The ballpark project, which will feature a 360-degree open concourse, shade structures, athlete and staff amenities and a variety of seating options, is now expected to be complete in June 2020. The school’s new Football Training Complex, which will be located on the site of the current baseball stadium, will break ground as soon as 2020. — FloridaGators.com

The city of Birmingham, Ala., broke ground on the new 55,000-seat Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex multi-use outdoor stadium this week. The 55,000-seat stadium will serve as the anchor for the complex, and become the new home field for the UAB football program. Construction will begin in the spring or summer of 2019. — AL.com

Wilmington University women’s tennis program held a ribbon cutting for its Delcastle Tennis Center. The indoor facility features six full-sized tennis courts, LED lighting, and climate control to keep the facility playable year round. — athletics.wilmu.edu
The University of South Alabama board of trustees last Friday approved funding for a new on-campus football stadium. The trustees authorized a $75 million bond issue that would have the stadium open in 2020. The project has been estimated at costs ranging from $70 to $80 million. Planned amenities include seating capacity for 25,000, premium seating options, a state-of-the-art video board and sound system, councourses and concessions. — AL.com
