Residents in Calgary, Alb., got a glimpse of a new recreation center that will also become the largest YMCA in the world. The 330,000-square-foot, $120 million Brookfield Residential YMCA is open to visitors for tours before it officially opens in January. Among the amenities the facility offers are water slides, a 50-meter competition pool, a 10-meter dive well, an exercise space with cardio and strength equipment, a running track, three full-sized basketball gymnasiums, an ice arena with two NHL-sized rinks, yoga and fitness studios and multipurpose rooms. — YMCACalgary.org

The board of regents at Texas Tech University announced that it had approved budgets for a pair of athletics facility projects.
