The Army West Point Athletics Association and the West Point Association of Graduates have obtained the initial private funding required to start construction in the spring 2024 for the Michie Stadium Preservation Project.

Notable enhancements encompass premium seating options and upgraded concessions. The Corps of Cadets seating section will extend from one end zone to the other, positioning the cadets as a central focus and an enthusiastic source of game-day support for the athletes on the field.

The project — with an overall cost of $170 million, $133.5 million of which is for construction — will reconstruct and modernize the East Stands in time for the fall 2026 football season.

EwingCole programmed, planned, and designed a dynamic, modern and eco-friendly East Stands complex that synthesizes the project’s physical requirements and sensitively binds them to its historic and majestic site.

Football and lacrosse will continue to play inside the venue throughout the project.

The owner of Station Square’s Highmark Stadium is proposing an expansion that could add as many as 9,500 seats, a new press box and other amenities to the riverfront soccer venue over the next four years.

Shallenberger Properties, owned by Pittsburgh Riverhounds owner Tuffy Shallenberger, is requesting a $10 million state redevelopment assistance capital grant to help with a three-phase upgrade that could total as much as $75 million.

The expansion is expected to nearly triple the stadium’s seating capacity from 5,500 to 15,000 and add several amenities to further enhance the venue, which opened 11 years ago.

  • The 60-year-old Mobile Civic Center Arena, expo hall and theater in Mobile, Ala., is set to be demolished later this year and replaced with a new $300 million arena that will host large Mardi Gras balls, ice hockey, concerts and more under a plan. The state-of-the-art venue will have a maximum seating capacity of 10,275 people and be able to attract large touring acts while having the capacity to host a minor league hockey team.
