The $60 million, indoor and outdoor, CarShield Sportsplex© AAA Hockey & Futbol facility will accommodate the CarShield AAA Hockey & Futbol clubs, which already serve more than 500 kids and 45 teams in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. This includes J.P Beilsten’s elite AAA CarShield hockey program, which produced alumni and future St. Louis Blues player Colin Ralph, recently ranked 48th in the NHL’s 2024 draft.

The 325,000-square-foot CarShield Sportsplex© will offer four indoor turf soccer fields, two indoor ice rinks, team locker rooms, a pro shop, training and fitness spaces, a restaurant, bar, concessions, classrooms, and competition ice rinks, educational hockey and futbol academies, youth training, food and entertainment year-round.Outside the complex, there will be three turf soccer fields, concessions, a dining patio, and a children’s playground. The City of Coralville hopes to more than triple the size of a popular facility.
After five decades of serving families, the Coralville Recreation Center is ready for its $50 million makeover.
The city revealed two design concepts at a public meeting in June. One plan calls for a new building with three pools and three gyms, while the other would expand the existing 37,000-square-foot structure by constructing three pools and another gym.
The Coralville City Council announced plans for a new recreation center and indoor competition pool last year, teaming up with the Iowa City Community School. [Iowa City Press-Citizen]
A multi-million dollar renovation is proposed for the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Beth Paul, the arena’s general manager, presented plans for a $170 million renovation project to Greenville County’s Finance Committee on Monday. She asked the committee to issue $70 million in bonds to help fund it.
“I think it’s just time for us to prepare for the future,” Paul said.
The arena is also seeking funding from the state and other investments to fund the renovations. The state legislature designated at least $5 million for the project in its upcoming budget.
Paul said the funding will be used to renovate concession stands, concourse, restrooms, ADA amenities, scoreboard, acoustics and seating among other amenities. [WSPA]
