A $50-million renovation project will soon get underway at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie – the home of the Chesapeake Baysox Baltimore Orioles Double-A minor league team.
Bowie resident Natalie Fowler and her husband Mike are excited about this and hope it makes the fan baseball experience even better.
“It is exciting, and the fans get into it and it is a lot of fun I think it is wonderful, families used to go watch the game and we used to go and we haven’t been in a while but this is exciting this might draw fans here,” Fowler said. [NEWS 19]

Women’s ice hockey teammates Callie Shanahan (COM’25) (from left), Maggie Hanzel (Questrom’25), Julia Shaunessy (CAS’24, SPH’25), and Tamara Giaquinto (Questrom’24, SHA’25) and Drew Marrochello, athletics director, cut the ribbon in Walter Brown Arena’s new women’s ice hockey locker room on January 24.
The $13 million Case Center project, the most significant renovation within an existing athletics facility in department history, included a new lounge, coaches’ offices, equipment room, and athletic training room. Also part of the project: the Ike Brown (Questrom’76) Basketball Locker Room, unveiled to the men’s basketball team earlier this month, and the Todd & Anne Klipp Video Room, which will be used by both basketball programs. The Screaming Eagles' special needs athletics sports complex called "The Nest" is making lots of progress.
For the last two months, the nonprofit has posted many updates to its Facebook page and shared photos.
The posts explain that they've been digging and trenching to run electrical wiring and setting posts for fencing. They've also installed a scoreboard and pavilion.
"We said we would love to be involved in whatever capacity we can, and so this opportunity came up," said Caroline Lindler, CFO of Chapin Commercial Construction. "They were looking for donations to build the pavilion right there by the baseball field and we thought it was a great opportunity for us to help them and bring awareness to the organization."
Lindler said they've supported the project since its inception about two years ago. [News 19]
