A new “world-class” pickleball facility will be built in Plover.

According to a company news release, Sentry Insurance Foundation donated $500,000 Thursday to the village of Plover and the Heart of Wisconsin Pickleball Association and announced plans to open a new pickleball facility. The Sentry Pickleball Complex will open at Lake Pacawa Park this summer, the release said.

The designs are focused on inclusivity and accessibility and will include 12 fully wheelchair accessible, lighted courts for players of all ages and abilities.

The playing area will be 35,568 square feet with ample space between court lines and fences. [Wisconsin Rapids Tribune]

Northwest Allen County Schools and the Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness Alliance will partner to bring the U.S. Olympic Trial pool to the area.

The pool was moved from Indianapolis to Fort Wayne after last summer’s U.S. Olympic Trials.

The Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness Alliance presented a possible partnership to the district in October to acquire the pool.

The pool would require a larger natatorium to house it, and the district’s current facility is undersized for the amount of use generated by the schools in the district.

The new 92,000-square foot natatorium would house two pools. It would offer more than 20 lanes and a larger diving pool.

It’s expected to cost $54 million, with the money coming from NACS, state grants, private funds and donations brought in by the Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness Alliance. [WBOI]

More upgrades are coming to the north endzone of Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium.

A $25.7 million project is already underway to build a new videoboard in the north endzone, and last Friday an architect was selected for the latest approved upgrades to the north side stadium.

Auburn selected HOK Architects of Kansas City, Missouri, as architects for the project and Robins & Morton of Birmingham, Alabama, as construction manager. CDFL Architects + Engineers and Workshop Architects will serve as associate architects.

“We are appreciative of the Board of Trustees’ approval of HOK Group and CDFL and Workshop as project architects and Robins & Morton as construction manager for the north end zone multi-use facility at Jordan-Hare Stadium,” Auburn athletic director John Cohen said in a release. “This is another step in ensuring Jordan-Hare Stadium remains one of the preeminent facilities in college football.” [Alabama.com]
