There's a new on-campus home and state-of-the-art training center for the Creighton men's and women's golf teams.
Creighton Athletics on Sunday celebrated the unveiling of the McGraw Family Indoor Golf Facility, a nearly 4,000-square-foot performance center designed to foster student-athlete development and set the stage for both programs' future success. The facility is located inside the Kiewit Fitness Center.
The elite training center is made possible by the generous support of Nicole and Mike McGraw and the entire McGraw family, who have long been dedicated to uplifting Creighton students by supporting academic programs and Bluejay Athletics. Nicole McGraw said the family's $500,000 gift is a testament to the influence, inspiration and impact of her late father-in-law, Jack McGraw, BS'53, and his late wife, Joan McGraw. Move over, Cher. When it comes to late-in-life cosmetic improvements, the Savannah Bananas’ 99-year-old home ballpark, Grayson Stadium, is strutting its renewed beauty.
The Bananas debuted the new aesthetic in their 2025 season-opening homestand this past weekend, the first of 30 games scheduled for a ballpark where Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron have played over the last century. [Atlanta Journal Consitution]
If you've ever seen Archbold High School's weight room, you immediately notice the size. The athletic annex was built in 1992 and is hard-pressed for space.
Head football coach David Dominique expects the team to have between 70 and 80 players this fall. The weight room can barely hold a dozen or so players for winter workouts.
"We're kind of running out of space," he explained. "The times have changed where, with a weight room, you need a lot more space."
Going back to last year, Dominique and some other members of the athletic community started working on developing a new 45,000-square-foot indoor facility that would have almost everything a high school would want: The Bluestreak Athletic Complex. The indoor facility, which would be built on the school's campus, would include a turf field, a 5,000-square-foot weight room, batting cages, wrestling mats and a golf simulator.
