The Portland (Ore.) Diamond Project (PDP) met with an Oregon State Legislature committee on Monday, presenting new renderings of what an MLB stadium on the Portland Waterfront could potentially look like.
PDP founder Craig Cheek issued the following statement:
“Portland Diamond Project would like to thank members of the House Committee on Economic Development, Small Business, and Trade for inviting us to testify. We believe the state’s support is critical for this project’s success. We asked legislators to revisit SB5, originally passed in 2003, and update the law to better reflect the current revenue generated by players’ salaries and the rising costs to build a world-class stadium in downtown Portland. This would not be a new tax on Oregonians. We look forward to working with the legislature to make Oregon Better with Baseball.” [KPTV]
The Cleveland Soccer Group has released an updated rendering of its proposed South Gateway Stadium, a new professional soccer venue set to bring both men's and women's teams to Northeast Ohio in 2026.
If approved, the $50 million stadium will be built across the street from Progressive Field in the South Gateway district, with an initial capacity of 10,000 seats, expandable to 12,500 and 20,000 in future phases. [WKYC]
