Sports and entertainment developer The Mettle Shop filed an application with the city of Folsom, Calif., to develop a 410,000-square-foot sports complex on a 21-acre site. The proposed complex includes a 3,000-seat arena, a full-sized NHL ice sheet, two additional NHL-sized practice rinks, and a 126,000-square-foot covered and lighted outdoor turf field.
Breaking Ground
Construction has begun on the Tulane Goldring Tennis Center, the long-awaited new home for Green Wave tennis that will also offer an additional, state-of-the-art venue for the New Orleans tennis community and area pickleball enthusiasts. Work on the project began in June and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.
Florida State University has broken ground on the schoolās lacrosse-only stadium, which neighbors FSUās golf facility and engineering building. The $12 million complex will include the team clubhouse and a 1,000-plus-seat stadium. It will be the second womenās lacrosse-only facility in the country, joining Clemsonās.
Grand Openings
The YMCA of Pueblo (Colo.) has cut the ribbon on a new state-of-the-art athletics facility. The $649,700 project, which includes a track and field, as well as spectator seating and other supporting infrastructure, was funded through generous community donations, grants and partnerships.
The Green Bay Packers recently opened the upscale Packers Athletic Club, located in the teamās Titletown entertainment district surrounding Lambeau Field. The clubās workout floor features 15,500 square feet of cardio and strength equipment, as well as premium amenities, such as a sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, a cold plunge and a hot tub, with shower products and personal care essentials provided for use each day.
Harvard Athletics recently celebrated the completion of the four-year Boathouse Renewal Project along both banks of the Charles River. The comprehensive renovations of the iconic Newell (1901) and Weld (1906) boathouses maintain each buildingās architectural charm and storied legacy. The upgrades bring the boathouses into the modern era in an effort to support the needs of todayās varsity crews, recreational rowers and intramural programs.
