Northwestern University unveiled its new indoor practice facility this week. The 96,135-square-foot Ryan Fieldhouse boasts a regulation-size football practice field, locker rooms, weight rooms, and nutrition, medical and academic services for all of the school’s sports teams. Located near the center of campus, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Lake Michigan, the facility will be used to host practices, but will also host non-athletic events like galas, convocations and dance marathons. Regents at the University of Minnesota have approved a new privately funded wrestling facility. The plans call for a complete renovation of Bierman Gym, formerly the practice space for the men’s basketball team. With 7,500 square feet of dedicated mat space, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a 1,100-square-foot cardio room, the new facility is expected to open its doors in November. The space will allow the wrestling team to leave behind its cramped wrestling room, which it had used since the early 1970s. Source: GopherSports.com

The new home of the school’s basketball and volleyball programs, the facility also includes staff offices, and renovated weight rooms and locker rooms. The facility can seat about 3,000 fans for sports contests, and fit 3,500 for events. Source: KPTV
