A wrestling tournament at Buchholz (Fla.) High School came to a screeching halt Friday when a man fell through a skylight in the gymnasium.
The Gainesville Sun reported that the man was on the roof with friends, when someone threw his cell phone to roof’s next level. Sheriff’s deputies said the young man when to retrieve the phone and then fell through the ceiling and onto the gym floor.
In all, seven people were charged with trespassing, including three adults and four people under the age of 18. The man who fell attends a charter school in the area.
School district spokeswoman Jackie Johnson said the district will take disciplinary action against the students involved.
“We hope the young man fully recovers,” she said. “We are taking this very seriously as a disciplinary action.”
The man who fell is still in the hospital and his identity is undisclosed.
