As fundraising for a new high school athletics field in Canada comes to a close, one company has purchased naming rights to the prep facility.

The Greater Essex County District School Board has agreed to a $750,000 deal with NatureFresh Farm for naming rights on the new outdoor athletics field at Leamington Secondary School, which will accommodate physical education classes, soccer and football. The field will be called NatureFresh Field.

The extra cash has allowed the school to upgrade what would have been an asphalt running track with a rubberized overlay.

ā€œWithout their backing, we would have a plain Jane field only,ā€ said Leamington principal Kyle Berard. ā€œIt was very generous and now that weā€™re near the end, weā€™re trying to get it as far along as we can.ā€

Pete and Cathy Quiring who own NatureFresh Farms have pledged financial support to the school since it opened back in 2017.

ā€œItā€™s great when you have these public/private partnerships,ā€ Leamington mayor Hilda MacDonald told the Windsor Star. ā€œYou know the parents and kids raised money as well but when someone like that steps up ā€” Peter is very community minded and it has benefited us all in so many ways.

The school recently launch a campaign known as ā€œFinish the Field,ā€ which has already raised $120,000. The campaign aims to raise enough to install bleachers, a field house, a scoreboard and lights.
