The Oregon Institute of Technology has announced that the Oregon Tech Foundation received a $250,000 donation from the Klamath Community Development Corporation to support the construction of an athletic fieldhouse at Oregon Tech. This comes on the heels of a $1 million lead donation from Glen and Sherry Thomet, announced last week. The athletic fieldhouse project includes an 8,500-square-foot building that will be constructed adjacent to the athletics building to provide an all-season practice and workout facility for Hustlin' Owls student-athletes.
New York City FC announced a partnership Thursday with the Randall’s Island Park Alliance, which will see New York City FC II’s team play several of its home games at 5,000-seat Icahn Stadium, on Randall’s Island. As part of the partnership, New York City FC has donated $3 million for the refurbishment of the stadium, developing it into a state-of-the-art soccer facility while maintaining its use as an athletics venue for world-class track and field events.
The University of Puget Sound recently received a $1 million gift from the Offutt Family Foundation to support women’s athletics wellness and leadership, The News Tribune of Tacoma reported last week. The donation will offer support in areas such as mental health, nutrition, injury prevention, leadership development for student-athletes and professional development for coaches. A survey of women’s athletes will help determine where to allocate the money, which will become available in the 2025-26 school year.
Penn State University announced Tuesday that alum Greg Lucier is donating $5 million to his alma mater, with $250,000 earmarked to help fund athletics facilities renovations. Specifically, Lucier directed the $250,000 athletics donation to the Greenberg Indoor Sports Complex, one of several athletics facilities undergoing significant renovations. The Greenberg Sports Complex, once the home of Penn State hockey, will become a "hub for performance dining, wellness and athletic training services," according to the university.
