Indiana University Athletics and Teamworks Influencer have partnered to create the Indiana NIL Exchange. This online portal is free to student-athletes and businesses, and it connects the two for NIL opportunities.
According to The Daily Hoosier, the portal is, “a one-stop-shop that streamlines the NIL process from start to finish.”
This portal really does it all. It generates tax forms, provides an on-site payment platform and scours all available opportunities to ensure they are in line with Indiana University’s NIL rules. The portal also offers educational resources on brand building, personal finance and the NIL process so both student-athletes and business owners are entering this process with all of the information they need to make smart deals.
Businesses that register in the portal can reach out to student-athletes directly and filter the list of athletes by different criteria to find the best match. The goal is to help athletes monetize their brand and more easily pursue NIL deals at larger scales. Aside from providing the portal, IU Athletics and Teamworks Influencer are not involved in any of the negotiations or matching.
Scott Dolson, IU vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, said in a statement, “From the start, IU Athletics has been a leader in supporting our student-athletes in maximizing their NIL opportunities, and this is the latest example of that commitment. This technology is a tremendous resource to both parties, and it will enable our student-athletes to continue to maximize their personal brands and market themselves to businesses who can benefit greatly from these partnerships.”
Several IU student-athletes have secured NIL deals through the collective, ‘Hoosiers for Good.’ This non-profit-based NIL collective partners charities in Bloomington, Ind., with the all-star Hoosiers. Other athletes have signed deals with companies like Merchant Bank of Indiana, Mother Bear Pizza, and Crocs.
