The Milwaukee Brewers released a statement apologizing to fans who tried to use their "Timeless Ticket" for a seat at the forthcoming World Series, which is set to open Friday at American Family Field, where the Brewers will host the Tampa Bay Rays.
Only 1,000 of the tickets were put up for sale during a promotional period in 2014 and 2015. Those who purchased the tickets were told they could use them for any future game, including the World Series, for “the best available seat location(s), subject to ticket availability at the time of redemption,”
“Prior to the deadline, several hundred fans indicated an intention to redeem their Timeless Ticket for a World Series game,” Rick Schlesinger, the club’s president of business operations, wrote. “We subsequently erred in our internal communications on the logistics of fulfilling the requests.
“While we were able to accommodate all with seats, we received feedback from some that they were unhappy with their seat locations. Clearly, even with extraordinary limitations on available seats, we did not live up to the spirit of the program, and we have been working through a resolution.”
The Brewers said that all fans who submitted requests before the deadline can keep their World Series ticket for this year and will retain their “Timeless Ticket” for another game of their choosing in the future.
The Brewers have set a record for World Series ticket prices. Early Tuesday, the get-in price for the contest was a whopping $2,932, per GameTime. The previous Game 1 record was $1,125 for the 2016 World Series, when the Chicago Cubs took on the Cleveland Guardians. Game 1 of that series took place in Cleveland.
