Playfly said in its announcement that it hopes to expand the Mater Dei brand “by amplifying the success of its teams and student-athletes,” and by introducing sponsorship opportunities, KTLA's Austin Turner reported.
The company has similar agreements in place with 27 colleges, including the University of Southern California, but it claims that this is the first of its kind with an individual high school.
Mater Dei's football program has won five national championships in the last seven years, including last season, and claims Heisman Trophy winner and current Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Bryce Young among its alumni.
“Playfly’s explosive growth is driven by their unique expertise in monetization and fan engagement. We welcomed the opportunity to team up in further elevating the Mater Dei brand,” said Khaled Holmes, Mater Dei's director of development – athletics, as reported by KTLA. “This alliance not only supports our student-athletes in new and exciting ways but also reinforces our commitment to leading the way in high school athletics.”
