The Idaho State Board of Education unanimously voted to approve the University of Idaho’s request to help fund the 4,200-seat, $46 million Idaho Central Credit Union Arena. The school sought approval to loan itself $29 million from reserves to fund the project, which will be repaid through various means. So far, the school has received $16 million in donations, and is hoping to raise a total of $25 million for the project. The remaining monies will be raised by student fees. By loaning itself the $29 million, the school hopes to speed the process along, covering the current donations gap and allowing the student fee dollars to be raised over time. — The Argonaut
