Take a look at plans for the expansion of the sports and recreation facility at Luther College in Iowa, improvements to Mizzou's stadium in Columbia, Mo., plus an arena and sports fields update in Kentucky...
Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, will renovate and expand the Regents Center, home to Norse athletics and the center for sports and recreation at the college.
Originally constructed in 1963, the current Regents Center is over 200,000 square feet, and will become one of the largest renovation projects in the college’s history.
Aside from serving as the headquarters for the Luther Norse athletic department, the center also houses facilities used by the entire college, including the campus’ student, faculty and staff fitness facility, the college’s aquatics center, and the recently renovated indoor track, tennis courts, and flexible usage space of the Robert and Ann Naslund Sports and Recreation Center.
Among the highlights in the preliminary plans for the Gerdin Fieldhouse are a new entrance space for the public, a team meeting space open for use by all teams, renovation of the locker rooms, and a new common area and study space for the 21 Norse athletic teams. [Luther College]
The University of Missouri is planning improvements to Memorial Stadium.
The Memorial Stadium project aspires to create an open-air mixed-use development along the stadium's North Concourse area with the potential to produce modernized year-round revenue opportunities that have become popular across professional sports.
The project design will be committed to maintaining stadium views and engagement to the Mizzou campus north of Memorial Stadium while minimizing construction impact onto future football season game-day activities.
The university has chosen DLR Group, a Kansas City-based architecture firm, to serve as its consultant for the project.
While cost estimates for the project will develop as programming plans are finalized, private donor contributions will fund the stadium renovations. The project is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026. [University of Missouri]
Bowling Green (Ky.) High School announced plans for a $6.3 million project to renovate campus facilities.
The project covers the costs of renovating the arena and the soccer, baseball, and softball fields.
The arena, built in 1990, will be getting a new gym floor, cooling system, bleachers, and upgraded aesthetics. It will account for around $2 million worth of the project.
Primarily used for athletic purposes, the arena is also used for high school graduation and other community events.
Although progress has been made to renovate the athletic fields, construction will not begin in the area until the summer after graduation.
The project is being funded by the BGISD’s construction fund. [WBKO-TV]
