The current track at Innovation Campus in Lincoln doesn't have seating, which has prevented the track and field program from hosting an outdoor meet since 2019.
Ed Weir Stadium used to be the track program’s home. But that location was transformed into a new football training facility. Part of the transition included building a new track near the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Athletic Department wants to improve the new facility by adding restrooms, concessions, locker rooms and 2,000 seats.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is expecting the project to be finished in October.

The University of Michigan-Flint Recreation Center is kicking off the winter season with exciting updates, including brand-new weight room equipment and various fitness programs designed to keep students and community members active during the colder months.
The updated weight room features state-of-the-art equipment to enhance users' strength training experience. Students can access the center at no cost with their Mcard, while faculty, staff and the public can purchase memberships.
"These improvements demonstrate our commitment to providing everyone who utilizes our center with top-quality fitness facilities," said Kimberly Vaughn, associate director of recreation operations. "We're excited to continue enhancing the overall facility in the coming months." [UMFlint.com]
Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, Mickey Mantle’s New York Yankees, Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers and the Montreal Canadiens in the 1950s, 60s and 70s all have at least this one thing in common: They are, inarguably, dynasties in their respective sports.
To achieve this level of dominance, these organizations — from the players to coaches, administrators and even the janitors — had to push themselves beyond what the competition was doing. There needed to be a vision that saw what they were doing day to day was building something special, a legacy that would be remembered decades later.
In November 2021, the building blocks of a new sports dynasty began to come together, but this one wasn’t a sports team; in fact, what this concept is goes beyond how to categorize it traditionally.
On paper, The Dynasty | Ocoee is a youth sports complex. In reality, the project’s developer, Montierre Development, is building a 159-acre revolution-in-the-making within the youth sports and sports tourism sectors. [Orange Observer]
